Responsibilities
- Conducting safety inspections to identify potential hazards in the workplace, such as unsafe working conditions or equipment failure
- Developing, implementing, and administering safety programs
- Training employees on safety protocol and procedures
- Ensuring that all safety equipment and supplies are in good condition and readily available for use
- Coordinating with outside contractors to ensure that work sites comply with EU and national safety regulations
- Coordinating with other departments on matters pertaining to construction site safety
- Conducting investigations into accidents or near misses to determine the cause and make recommendations for preventing future incidents from occurring
- Developing plans for emergency evacuations of workers from job sites in case of fire or other hazards
- Training supervisors on safety procedures and regulations so they can provide effective leadership to their teams
- Representing construction company in meetings with EU and national bodies and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety
- Interacting with licensed bodies for regular updates on legal regulations and program initiatives on workplace safety and environmental issues
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a technical area
- Course in the field of safety and health at work with a duration of at least 80 hours as per Romanian Legislation.
- Diploma or graduation certificate in the field of safety and health at work, with a duration of at least 180 hours.
- Knowledge of the main international standards (ISO 9001 and ISO 45001)
- Certification from a recognized organization (e.g. Nebosh, Iosh or similar) is an added value.
- Work experience in safety Dept. not less than 5 years.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in using computer software, such as Microsoft Office
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of EU and national safety and health legislation and standards, such as the EU Directive 89/391/EEC on the introduction of measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health of workers at work
